Residential HVAC System Design Class
This class introduces proper residential system design & installation procedures based on the “ACCA Standard 5 – Quality Installation” Manual. This in-person course covers real-world applications for a complete and professional installation to include the following topics:
1)
Manual J Overview (Load Calculation)
a.
Detailed overview of performing load calculations from a real-life application of Manual J parameters to include the Do’s & Don’ts of a proper load calculation.
b.
Emphasizing the 2018 North Carolina Mechanical & Energy Codes that guide the proper implementation of the Load Calculation Design Procedures, will be thoroughly outlined.
2)
Manual S Overview (System Sizing)
a.
Implementation of the ACCA Manual S Sizing Guidelines to include unit sizing examples on an actual single-family residence located in the Raleigh, NC area.
3)
Manual D Overview
a.
Review of Manual D principles in performing duct designs to include the proper installation of flexible duct systems and construction distribution (junction) boxes.
4)
HVAC Quality Installations
a.
This session introduces proper residential system installation practices and code compliance topics.
b.
Subject matter includes mechanical code highlights, duct installation & sealing techniques, duct leakage requirements, and Trane’s Hot Button topics to reduce warranty concerns & callback issues.
